Notice of Hike Change

The hike to Skaha Bluffs on Wednesday May 14 will be leaving at 8:00 am and not at the usual 9:00 am Wednesday hike time.  The reason for the early start is that it is taking a little more time to get to Penticton these days with the road construction south of Peachland.  The actual hike is no longer than the typical Wednesday hike.

Also there have been access issues with Skaha Bluffs and there is now a $10 charge per vehicle to use the parking lot.  Come prepared to share this cost with your driver.

The following Wednesday (May 21) the start time is back to 9:00 am.
The Sunday May 18 hike will be leaving Parkinson Rec. at 0800 instead of 0900. It's a long drive to Mt Keogan, made longer by the construction on the highway.

Weekend Hikes

If you have questions about a specific hike, please phone the hike leader or call the Hiking Co-ordinator Rick Gee at 250 763-0124.

These hikes are rated:

Easy = 2 to 4 hours, slow pace.

Intermediate + 4 - 6 hours, medium difficulty and pace.

Advanced + 6 - 8 hours, steeper, faster pace.

A (+) after the rating indicates a little more challenging, but not to the level of the next higher rating.

Hikes usually involve some bushwhacking and/or off-trail sections.  Bring good waterproofed hiking boots, and be dressed appropriately for the weather and with regard to the expected terrain conditions.

Bring a waterproof day pack with plenty of drinking water, lunch, rain gear, first aid equipment, and whistle.  Remember your carpool money.

If you have questions about a specific hike, please phone the hike leader or call the Hiking Co-ordinator (Rick Gee at 250 763-0124). Note that hike destinations may change with little notice, so if you are hoping to be picked up somewhere other than the Parkinson Recreation Centre, you must contact the hike leader beforehand. In particular, if you are hoping to be picked up on the Westside, you must contact the leader at least a day in advance.
