Friday Botany Trips. Meet at the Parkinson Recreation Centre parking lot, southeast corner, nearest to Harvey and Spall, at 9:15 a.m. (departure 9:30 a.m.) Bring a lunch. Contact Peter Green at 765-1737 for details of the next trip.
Meetings Membership Meetings: These are held monthly (except for July and August) on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, September to June, at 7:30 p.m. at Evangel Church, 3261 Gordon Street, just south of KLO Road, Kelowna. The format of the meetings is a short business meeting, followed by a guest speaker and time to socialize.

Skiing

During the winter, the skiers meet every Wednesday and on weekends at the Nordic X-Country Ski Trails near McCulloch Lake. Usually there is a week-long cross-country ski trip and a week-long downhill ski trip. For further information, contact Ross Sutcliffe at 769-5158. www.kelownanordic.com

Many members of CONC are involved in preserving the natural history of the Okanagan Valley. Members have been, or continue to be, involved in the Mission Creek Greenway project.	The Club maintains the Maude-Roxby Bird Sanctuary, a marsh on the edge of Okanagan Lake near downtown Kelowna.	The Club is spearheading a group of public and government organisations working to conserve American Avocets in the Kelowna area, the only breeding colony of Avocets in BC. The Conservation Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month in the EECO Centre at Mission Creek park.	The Club is working on an Environmentally Friendly Landscaping (EFL) project. The main purpose is to educate the public about low water use gardening. For more information contact Fiona Flook.	The Club will take an active role in the provincial Fire Research Program. This program will research the short and long term impacts of wildfires and initially focus on Okanagan Mountain Park. Education Our aim is to promote natural history ideas and concepts within the community. Tracks, Trails and Naturalists' Tales publication: In 2000 CONC published a millennium book, a history of the Central Okanagan Naturalists' Club, from 1962 to 2000. This 190 page book, of old and new photos, is the past, present and future of the Central Okanagan Naturalists' Club as it completes its first century and embarks on a new millennium. It is four decades of history written by members. A second printing of the book was made in June 2003. The book is available for $23.00. The publication is also available on CD ROM for $10.00 plus shipping and handling.
CONC is compiling information about hikes in the Central Okanagan area and they wish to eventually publish a guide for hikers. CONC also puts on information displays in the community. Young Naturalists Club The Young Naturalists' Club inspires a lifelong interest in nature and encourages children, ages 5 to 14, to become environmental stewards. It also encourages and assists young people to develop skills in observing and studying nature through nature programs and environmental activities. The Club meets twice monthly on Sundays at 1:15 p.m. at the EECO Centre, Mission Creek Regional Park.
